The Italian Cornea Transplant Society is a scientific association which brings together the Italian most prominent experts in cornea transplantation. The association is non profit and its aims are to:

• promote the exchange of information, knowledge and experience accrued with regard to surgical and para-surgical techniques, medical therapy, and the forensic problems and social implications of cornea transplants and related issues;

• organize and sponsor courses, conferences, training workshops and promote the publishing of materials on the issue;

• stimulate research on the issue;

• become the "official representative" of the sector so as to be a consultative body for the administrative and legislative entities on all matters related to cornea transplants and for the organization of Regional Reference centres (Eye banks);

• organize the annual National Conference for ophthalmologists.
